Okx crypto deposits, network choice and confirmations

Okx crypto deposits move supported assets from an external exchange or wallet into a verified exchange account. The sending and receiving sides must use the same asset and network. A required memo or tag also belongs with the address. For on-chain deposits, crediting follows the confirmation requirement shown for that deposit route, subject to any account checks. Sender processing and network activity affect timing, so a submitted withdrawal does not yet establish a credited balance.

Asset and network choices define the route

Matching the asset and network establishes which blockchain route the receiving exchange can process. An asset may be offered on several networks, with different fees and confirmation requirements. Only a combination supported by both sides is usable. A familiar ticker or valid-looking address does not prove the route matches. Identical address formats can occur across networks whose asset records remain separate.

Deposit availability depends on the account and network

Identity verification and an enabled deposit route are prerequisites for using the exchange's deposit service.

Verification and account restrictions

A frozen or restricted account may have limited deposit functionality despite having completed identity verification. The account message identifies the applicable restriction. Signing in successfully does not establish whether deposits are enabled. Address any verification request or account restriction before authorizing a transfer from elsewhere.

Temporary network suspension

Wallet maintenance, node upgrades or mainnet changes can suspend deposits for a particular route. A saved address does not establish whether its deposit service is enabled. Resumption depends on the underlying maintenance or upgrade, so a fixed waiting period would be misleading.

Receiving details identify the asset and recipient

The receiving address directs the transfer, while additional fields distinguish the token or the account receiving it.

Deposit address and token contract

A token contract identifies an asset issued on a particular network; the deposit address identifies the transfer's destination. Use the receiving address displayed for the selected deposit route. Where a token contract is shown, its identity also needs to match the asset being sent. A matching ticker alone cannot establish whether a different contract represents the supported token.

Memo, tag or comment

Some deposit routes use a shared receiving address and an additional identifier to assign incoming funds to an account. When the deposit details require this field, the copied address alone is incomplete. Use the actual identifier displayed for the receiving account. A random value can prevent correct crediting. Preserve the displayed value exactly even if the sending platform uses a different field label.

How long does an Okx crypto deposit take?

On-chain deposit timing combines the sender's processing, blockchain confirmation progress and the exchange's applicable crediting checks. The first delay may occur before the sending platform broadcasts a transaction. A withdrawal request can remain in that platform's queue without creating a visible blockchain transfer.

For an on-chain deposit, confirmations record the network's progress in securing the transaction. Required counts differ by asset and network. Compare the current and required counts for the selected deposit.

A confirmation requirement is a count, not a fixed countdown. Network congestion can delay inclusion, and subsequent block production affects confirmation progress. An estimated arrival time therefore differs from a deadline. Elapsed minutes alone cannot show whether the transfer has met the required confirmation count.

Crediting and withdrawing can have different confirmation requirements. A deposit can appear in the exchange balance before it reaches the confirmation requirement for withdrawal. During that interval, the deposited assets may remain unavailable for withdrawal or peer-to-peer (P2P) selling.

The deposit's history record ties its confirmation progress to the asset, receiving address and transaction ID. A blockchain explorer provides the on-chain status, while the exchange record shows account crediting. These records answer different parts of the timing question, particularly when a transfer has reached the blockchain but its account balance has not changed.

Transfer methods and deposit requirements

External transfers, internal account transfers and invoice payments use different receiving details. An external deposit may also require a memo or a token-contract match.

Deposit type Transfer requirement Asset and network scope
On-chain deposit from another exchange Matching withdrawal and deposit networks Asset-network combination supported by both sides
On-chain deposit from a private wallet Displayed receiving address and any required identifier Asset held on the selected supported network
Memo or tag deposit Receiving address plus the exact account identifier Routes displaying a required memo, tag or comment
Contract-issued token deposit Matching token contract and the correct receiving address Supported token version on the selected chain
Internal account transfer Correct recipient in the exchange's internal transfer method Supported transfers between exchange accounts; no on-chain transaction
Lightning invoice deposit Invoice payable by the sending wallet or exchange BTC, where the account offers Lightning deposits
Mining proceeds forwarded from a wallet Rewards reach a wallet before an ordinary deposit Supported asset and network; direct blockchain reward deposits excluded

Lightning uses an invoice for the requested payment. This receiving method differs from copying an on-chain deposit address, so the sending service must support invoice payments.

Deposit minimums apply to the amount received

The deposit minimum concerns the incoming crypto amount for the selected asset and network. Compare that requirement with the sending service's recipient amount, including any deductions shown in its withdrawal summary. A fee may reduce the recipient amount or be charged separately. The amount leaving the sending balance and the amount reaching the deposit address can therefore differ. These transfer costs are separate from trading fees charged for executing a market order.

Deposits below the displayed minimum do not qualify for account credit. OKX's fee guidance describes paid recovery for certain cryptocurrencies through customer support. Its deposit troubleshooting guidance says below-minimum transfers cannot be processed, reversed or refunded. These conflicting statements leave eligibility unclear, so ask support whether your specific deposit can be recovered. An on-chain transfer can complete even though it fails the exchange's minimum. The relevant threshold belongs to the selected deposit route; a minimum found for another network does not establish this route's requirement.

Additional account checks explain some deposit restrictions

Missing transfer information and unfinished account assessments can restrict deposits through requirements separate from blockchain confirmation.

Sender information under the Travel Rule

In regions applying the Travel Rule, incoming deposits may need information about the sender and transfer's origin. The account may request the sender's legal name and whether funds came from a private wallet or another exchange. Additional details depend on local requirements. A hold awaiting this information calls for the requested transfer details; extra block confirmations cannot supply the missing identity information.

Outstanding assessments

Some regions require questionnaires or assessments before deposit and other features become available. An unfinished assessment can restrict funding access despite completed identity verification. Complete the specific prompt inside the account. Share personal transfer information through the authenticated account process, because public transaction records do not complete an identity-information request.

Uncredited transfers need a matching transaction record

The transaction record distinguishes a transfer still waiting on its sender from one the blockchain has processed. If an expected on-chain transfer is absent, ask the sending platform about its broadcast status. If sufficient confirmations appear without account credit, give the receiving exchange the transaction ID, asset, network, amount and destination details. Recovery after a wrong address, wrong network or missing memo is not assured. The on-chain identifier used to trace the transfer is the transaction ID, usually labelled TxID.

Can I choose whether a crypto deposit enters my Funding or Trading account?

The deposit interface can offer Funding or Trading as the destination account. Where this choice appears, select the intended account before sending. It determines where the credited balance appears within the exchange; it does not change the selected blockchain network or its confirmation requirements.

Why has my saved crypto deposit address changed?

System upgrades or multiple generated addresses can explain a different deposit address. Use the receiving details displayed for the selected asset and network, and update saved withdrawal entries when necessary. Older addresses can remain usable during a migration period, so a changed display does not automatically mean an earlier transfer failed.

What can I do if the sending platform has no memo field?

Contact the sending platform before submitting a withdrawal to a deposit address requiring a memo or tag. The account identifier must accompany the receiving address in the supported transfer format. Omitting it or entering arbitrary digits can prevent correct crediting, and additional confirmations do not replace missing recipient information.

How does scanning the deposit QR code differ from copying the address?

Both methods can supply the receiving address to the sending wallet or platform. Scanning changes how the address is entered, not which deposit network accepts it. Review the decoded destination and any separately required memo or tag, because the QR code does not remove those requirements.

Why does the sending exchange ask for my verified account name?

The sending exchange may require the receiving account's verified name for regulatory transfer checks. Use the name recorded in the receiving exchange's identity-verification details when requested. This identifies the account holder; it is separate from the blockchain address and any memo used to route the deposit.

Do I need to convert my holdings into a stablecoin before depositing?

A stablecoin conversion is unnecessary when the crypto you hold and its network are supported by both sides. Direct deposits transfer the supported asset into the exchange account. Converting first changes the asset being sent and introduces a separate trade, which has its own execution terms.

Can I edit or remove a generated crypto deposit address?

Created deposit addresses cannot be modified or deleted through address management. You can edit an address's display name, which changes its label while preserving the actual receiving address.
